An Award from TikTok

Good afternoon!

We are at the close of the 4th of July weekend. Hopefully, we all ended up at a cookout, or did some cooking out on our own, saw some fireworks, got some reading in, and watched some movies. Or maybe that was just me.

Today, we’ll get into how there are Booktok awards, read some articles about how Romantasy is fueling publishing right now, and look back to see what book was published on this date.

TikTok Book Awards

I’m gonna be honest. I had no idea the TikTok Book Awards even existed. Well, they do! This is the second annual edition, and they have released their shortlist. Here are some of the nominees:

Book of the Year (UK & Ireland)

Book of the Year (International)

Based in the UK & Ireland, voting is open until July 14, and winners will be announced on July 25.

Book Title: The Heart of Betrayal (Book 2 in The Remnant Chronicles)
Author: Mary E. Pearson
Release Date: July 7th, 2015

To not spoil, here is a blurb from the first book in the series

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can’t abide. Like having to marry someone she’s never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia escapes to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive―and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets―secrets that may unravel her world―even as she feels herself falling in love.

The Kiss of Deception is the first book in Mary E. Pearson's New York Times bestselling young adult fantasy series Remnant Chronicles. The adventure continues in the New York Times bestseller, The Heart of Betrayal, and comes to an epic conclusion in The Beauty of Darkness.
