Let's talk TV Series Finales

Just watch Succession please

Sunday night, Succession had it’s series finale. There will be no spoilers here, but I definitely believe they stuck the landing. This show was great. It lasted as long as it needed to and had great writing and acting. If you have not watched it I HIGHLY recommend it. If I have recommended a show for you to watch before, I recommend this one even more. So start watching it. Seriously.

With the series finale, I started to think about what other shows have some of my favorite series finales. I noticed the list isn’t long (lol). I think part of the reason is there are tv shows I haven’t seen (I mentioned this in last week’s newsletter).

There are some that I feel like the characters ended up exactly as they were supposed to end up but it was rushed (Game of Thrones) and some I just don’t remember (Cheers). I do have 5 (6 now with Succession) I enjoyed the ending though. I don’t want to spoil so I’m just going to name the shows.

  • Downton Abbey

  • The Wire

  • Friends

  • Sex and the City

  • One Tree Hill

These are in no particular order, but I feel like I was satisfied with the ending.

I definitely want to know if you have any favorite series finales. Click the button below and leave a comment.

  • The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney animated movie and now my favorite of their live-action remakes. I went to go see it this past weekend. And so did a lot of others.

  • HBO Max changed to Max recently. I was annoyed with having to download a brand new app, but I also finally watched the new Shazam movie and I was entertained.

Book of the week:

The Catenan Republic - the Hierarchy - may rule the world now, but they do not know everything.

I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilised society in allowing my strength, my drive and my focus - what they call Will - to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

I tell them that I belong, and they believe me.

But the truth is that I have been sent to the Academy to find answers. To solve a murder. To search for an ancient weapon. To uncover secrets that may tear the Republic apart.

And that I will never, ever cede my Will to the empire that executed my family.

To survive, though, I will still have to rise through the Academy's ranks. I will have to smile, and make friends, and pretend to be one of them and win. Because if I cannot, then those who want to control me, who know my real name, will no longer have any use for me.

And if the Hierarchy finds out who I truly am, they will kill me.
